    spricht zum Thema

"THE HIDDEN CHAMPIONS OF YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE – HOW MEMS SENSORS ENABLE THE IOT"

Termin: Donnerstag, den 18. Januar 2018
    Uhrzeit: 16:15 Uhr
    Ort: Technische Fakultät, Georges-Köhler-Allee 101, 79110 Freiburg,
    Gebäude 101, Hörsaal 036 (EG)

    Abstract
Consumer electronics such as smartphones, tablets and wearables are part of our everyday life – visible everywhere and taken for granted. Less visible however are the small MEMS sensors that are an integral part of these devices. With the emergence of the IoT, more and more devices demand sensors with low power consumption as well as high overall system performance, with new challenges for MEMS. Gerhard Lammel will explore how to overcome these challenges from a MEMS sensor supplier perspective based on a real-life examples of smart sensor technology. Modules with a multitude of sensors, integrated low power signal processing e.g. for context awareness, will change MEMS from the provision of raw data to meaningful data fusion output for our connected world.

    Zur Person
Gerhard Lammel is Director System Architecture at Bosch Sensortec. He studied physics and economics at the University of Munich. He founded two small high-tech companies for computer networks and computer graphics in 1991 and 1995. He obtained his PhD in 2001 at the EPFL in the group of Prof. Philippe Renaud for new micromachining technologies using porous silicon. In 2001 he joined Robert Bosch in Reutlingen, Germany, where he was responsible for process development for automotive MEMS pressure sensors. In 2005 he joined the founding team of Bosch Sensortec and managed several projects for consumer electronics MEMS sensors there. In 2011 he became responsible for the advanced development of the product portfolio and in 2017 Director System Architecture. He is inventor of over 50 patents in the field of micromechanical sensors.

Studierende, Promovierende, Mitarbeiter_innen und Gäste sind herzlich willkommen!

    Mit besten Grüßen
    Oliver Paul
    Dekan der Technischen Fakultät
